There have been recent changes to law enforcement that have made it difficult for law enforcement officers to provide the protection that society expects and deserves. The presence of officers has proven to be a deterrent to crime, but Washington ranks lowest in the nation in officers per capita.

We must support those who have committed to protecting our residents and provide them with reinforcements. We need to offer resources and legal protections so officers are able to enforce laws in a manner that keeps them safe and holds offenders accountable.

Laws should be enforced appropriately to the situation. I have great respect for all law enforcement officers for their commitment to serve and protect.
